The National Center for Next Generation Manufacturing is partnering with Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska, to offer Professional Development opportunities with high schools and colleges in the summer of 2025. If you are interested in attending, please complete the attached form and return it as soon as possible, as class size is limited. Classes must be taken in sequence. Our goal is for the local community college to work with high schools to offer dual credit to the high schools. In Nebraska, the community college provides the instructor of record for the college credit, and the facilitator helps the students and provides classroom management. Your school may use these trainers differently than we do. The following are details regarding each session and what you will receive. Classes must be taken in this sequence. First Course: Concepts of Electronics Tuesday, June 10, through Friday, June 13 Stipend of $1,800 for your travel costs and time Concepts of Electronics trainer valued at $5003. Course materials Second Course: Intro to Instrumentation Monday, June 16, through Thursday, June 19 A stipend of $1,800 for your travel costs and time Intro to Instrumentation trainer valued at $ 1,3003. Course materials Third Course: Intro to PLC's Tuesday, June 24, through Friday, June 27 A stipend of $1,800 for your travel costs and time Intro to PLC trainer valued at $1,7503. The Connecticut College of Technology and National Center for Next Generation Manufacturing, a National Science Foundation Center of Excellence, will present the 2025 Summer Teachers’ Workshop. This program will be held through an online platform. The exciting four-day workshop provides the opportunity for you to connect with your peers from across the United States in an online workshop. This program is very highly rated by teachers and faculty who have participated in the previous in-person and virtual versions of the program. The workshop will help you learn how to instruct your students in developing essential teambuilding skills as well as providing technology related experiences to help you integrate your learning into your STEM classroom and lab environment. The teambuilding, professional, and technical skills presented in the program are designed to be directly applicable to your classroom. Additional Workshop Details: Earn Professional Skills and Technical Skills Microcredentials. Over $460 in materials will be provided: ~ One-year online educational version of SolidWorks CAD Software ~ micro:bit kit ~ Electrical components kit ~ DISC and Emotional Quotient personal assessments ~ DISC and Emotional Quotient workbooks and reference materials. Participants will be eligible to receive up to $750 in stipends ($500 for participation in workshop and completion of evaluation materials; $250 upon submission of curriculum for use in classroom).
